Bus 150 Tromsø - Alta - Tromsø
Suggested itinerary
- The bus departs Prostneset in Tromsø at 16.00 and drives to Breivikeidet from where you take the ferry to Svensby, which is the first stop.
- Accommodation in Svensby
- Rent a bike at Svensby tursenter and visit Jægervatnet or Blåisvatnet (The Blue lake), go on hikes or rent a boat and go fishing.
- The next day 15:20 or 17:20, catch the bus to Lyngseidet. The bus trip takes approx. 20 minutes.
- Accommodation in Lyngseidet
- In Lyngseidet, we recommend a visit to Aurora Spirit Distillery, which is the world's northernmost whisky distillery and is situated approx. 10 km from Lyngseidet (40-minute bike ride). Rent hiking equipment at ElektroSport and go on nice hikes or bike rides in the area.
- Take the ferry from Lyngseidet to Olderdalen ⛴️. The ferry departs about every two hours and is free of charge for travellers without a car. Ferry schedule

- In Olderdalen, you can go on hikes with spectacular views. There is a grocery store, as well as a kiosk (Dittis) at the ferry landing serving fast food.
- From Olderdalen to Nordmannvik, it's only 10 km and the bus ride takes approx. 15 minutes.
- Accommodation in Nordmannvik
- In Nordmannvik, there are no shops or restaurants, so we recommend shopping in Olderdalen before departure. The owner of Lyngen Fjordbuer in Nordmannvik is a nature guide and knows the surrounding area well. He can give you tips about the best hiking trips. Lyngen Fjordbuer has boats for rent.
- From Nordmannvik to Djupvik/Spåkenes, the bus ride is approx. 10 minutes.
- Accommodation in Spåkenes

- The next stop is Sørkjosen, only 30 minutes by bus from Djupvik.

This itinerary can be combined with a detour to Skjervøy or you can continue on bus 150 all the way to Alta.

Buss 160/150 Tromsø - Alta
Suggested itinerary
The bus departs Prostneset in Tromsø at 15:00, and drives towards Nordkjosbotn before you arrive in Skibotn which is the first stop. Timetable for bus 160 can be seen here.

- The next day you take the bus to the village Manndalen. Manndalen is known for its Sami culture and history.

- In Manndalen we recommend a visit to Senter for nordlige folk and the local craftshop Grenebua where you can buy local handicrafts.
- The Baalsrud cave and Jan Baalsruds grave is in Manndalen. Find the tourdescription to the Baalsrud cave here.
- From Manndalen to Birtavarre it is a short bus ride of aprox. 20 minutes.
- Birtavarre is the gate to Halti - Finlands highest mountain. In Birtavarre you will find ruins of the old mining community in Ankerlia and the popular attraction Gorsabrua in Kåfjorddalen, as well as many nice hiking opportunities. In the summer season you can bungeejump from Gorsabrua.
o There is no accommodations in Birtavarre, bring a tent!
o We recommend a visit to Holmenes sea sami farm, where you get an insight into how a sea sami family lived before the war.
- Birtavarre is the gate to Halti - Finlands highest mountain. In Birtavarre you will find ruins of the old mining community in Ankerlia and the popular attraction Gorsabrua in Kåfjorddalen, as well as many nice hiking opportunities. In the summer season you can bungeejump from Gorsabrua.
